Fractional CMO here: how do you hand agent work over when you leave a client?

I set up agents for clients and then my contract ends. Twice now I have come back six months later to find the agents still running on prompts nobody understands, or switched off because the one person who knew left.
What does a good handover look like for you? I am thinking one page per agent: job, owner, inputs, what good looks like, how to switch it off.

Add 'last time someone checked an output, and what they found'. If that line is blank, the agent is not really owned.

Agency view: the briefs are the handover. If the briefs are good, anyone can run the agents. If the briefs are in your head, nothing was handed over.

We make the new owner run it with you twice before you leave. The page alone never sticks.

Document the journeys, the agents and the approvals in one place, with an owner on every line. The owner column is the part people skip.

As the person on the receiving end of a handover last year: please include the list of things the agent got wrong. That is where the real knowledge was.

Did the two-runs handover with the current client. They found two things in the prompt they wanted to change, which is exactly the point.
