Can an agent write the retouching brief for a product shoot?

Product photographer. After a shoot I write notes for the retoucher: remove dust, keep the texture on the leather, match the white to the last batch. It takes an hour per shoot and I hate it.

Tried dictating rough notes and having an agent turn them into a per-image brief. It is about 80 percent there. The missing 20 is anything about colour, where it gets vague.

Give it the brand colour values and make it refer to them by name. 'Match to Sand 02' instead of 'warmer'.

It can write the list. It cannot tell which item on the list matters. The retoucher can, so give them both.

Merchandiser: please make it name the SKU on every line. A retouching brief without SKUs is a guessing game.

We attach the reference image from the last approved batch to every brief. The retoucher cares more about that than the words.

We tried it for homewares. The agent's brief was fine until it suggested removing a shadow that was the product.

Named colour values plus a reference image. The retoucher said the last brief was the clearest she has had from me. Slightly offended, mostly pleased.
