Event tracking first, agents second

Growth engineer, slightly ranty. Three teams this year asked me for an agent to 'find growth opportunities'. All three had tracking where half the events fired twice and the other half never fired.

An agent reading broken data writes a confident story about broken data. Fix the tracking, then talk to me about agents.

Agree. The best thing an agent did for us was list every event with zero volume in the last 30 days. That was the tracking audit.

Thank you. I have sent this thread to three people already. The agent cannot fix tracking; it can only describe it confidently.

Our rule now: no new agent on a metric until the metric has been right for 30 days.

Saving this thread for the next time someone asks me for an 'insights agent'.

Learned this the hard way in April. The readout agent wrote a lovely paragraph about a conversion lift that was a tracking change.

chartsentencing's zero-volume list is a great first job for an agent. Low risk, immediately useful, and it makes the case for fixing tracking.
